Under the general guidance of the Drilling Manager, the Drilling Superintendent supervises the planning and execution of the drilling and completions of wells in a safe and cost effective manner and in conformance with established Company guidelines, policies, procedures and applicable governmental regulations.

· Coordinates and supervises the activities of Drill Site Managers (DSM's) with regard to the drilling and completion of wells.

· Consults on, reviews, critiques and approves well cost estimates and drilling plans prepared by the drilling engineers.

· Ensures optimum operational, financial, safety and environmental goals and objectives have been established for projects.

· Evaluates and approves drilling rigs and associated equipment. Manages the rig contract.

· Supports the Drilling Department by sharing experiences on past results achieved and lessons learned with drilling team to ensure improved overall department performance.

· Is an active participant in well design reviews and risk assessments

· Provides for the development of direct reports (DSM's) by means of performance appraisals and personal development plans as well as mentoring

· Determines project assignments for direct reports

· Sets department operational goals

· Manages the loss control responsibilities and training requirements of direct reports. Reviews and approves rig inspection, incident investigation and safety meeting reports submitted by direct reports. Ensures communication and follow-up on deficiencies/remedial actions are conducted as per the action plan.

· Conducts and/or leads incident investigations when appropriate.

· Ensures field work is performed in compliance with all applicable regulations and Company policies.

· Occasionally performs the duties of Drilling Manager.

 Responsibilities:
